Asia-Pacific witnessed a 0.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

May 2022 has seen a decrease of 0.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.16% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 43.51% in May 2022, a 36.86% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.81% in May 2022, marking a 60.42% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 17.03% in May 2022, a 7.35% drop from April 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 12.16% in May 2022, a 4.65% rise over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 1.14% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s consumer industry during May 2022 over previous month.

Haier Group posted 47 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 7.84% over the previous month, followed by Panasonic with 44 jobs and a 2.33% growth. Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 42 IT jobs and Nestle with 26 jobs, recorded a 162.5% rise and a 51.85% drop, respectively, while Masan Group recorded a 63.64% increase with 18 job postings during May 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s consumer industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 55.41% share in May 2022, a 25.99% decrease over April 2022. China featured next with a 13.78% share, down 10.53% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 7.84% share, a growth of 3.57% compared with April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.81%, down by 18.38% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.19% share, registered a decline of 21.98% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.19% share, up 54.55% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.81%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
