Asia-Pacific witnessed a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the retail industry in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
July 2022 has seen an increase of 2.61% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 8.16% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 64.39% in July 2022, a 17.12% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 17.26% in July 2022, marking a 28.13% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.69% in July 2022, a 16.45% drop from June 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.46% in July 2022, a 3.92% rise over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 11.19% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 671 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 20.87% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 68 jobs and a 9.33% drop. Target with 56 IT jobs and adidas with 41 jobs, recorded a 69.7% rise and a 1950% rise, respectively, while HappyFresh recorded a 48% increase with 37 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 57.83% share in July 2022, a 5.89% decrease over June 2022. Australia featured next with a 16.58% share, down 9.63% over the previous month. China recorded a 9.34% share, a drop of 22.92% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.24%, down by 7.73% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 27.86% share, registered a growth of 4.09% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 14.81% share, down 34.33% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.08%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
