Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 57.3% in August 2022, a 47.56% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20.51% in August 2022, marking a 29.47% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 12.08% in August 2022, a 32.81% drop from July 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 53.48% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 191 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 72.12% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 70 jobs and a 2.94% growth. adidas with 58 IT jobs and JD with 38 jobs, recorded a 41.46% rise and a 31.03% rise, respectively, while Wesfarmers recorded a 54.17% increase with 37 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 31.6% share in August 2022, a 67.39% decrease over July 2022. Australia featured next with a 24.86% share, down 11.94% over the previous month. China recorded a 20.51% share, a growth of 28.07% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.65%, down by 26.89% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.59% share, registered a decline of 39.01% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.76% share, down 70.66% over July 2022.
