May 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.42% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.83% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 70.65% in May 2022, a 20.43% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 12.59% in May 2022, marking a 1.72% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.95% in May 2022, a 0.9% rise from April 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 2.13% in May 2022, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.89% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 606 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 16.18% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 66 jobs and a 53.49% growth. Coles Group with 28 IT jobs and Target with 26 jobs, recorded a 24.32% drop and a 25.71% drop, respectively, while JD recorded a 27.27% decline with 24 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 59.55% share in May 2022, an 18.54% decrease over April 2022. Australia featured next with a 13.66% share, down 3.76% over the previous month. China recorded a 10.46% share, a drop of 31.47% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.42%, down by 18.36% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 28.92% share, registered a decline of 0.37% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 13.66% share, down 30.05% over April 2022.
