
Asia-Pacific witnessed a 0.1% rise in IT hiring activity in the retail industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.13% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 10.94% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 81.37% in December 2021, a 10.15% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 8.48% in December 2021, marking a 2.8% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.27% in December 2021, an 8.62% rise from November 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 1.79% in December 2021, a 34.04% decline over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 16.87% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 814 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 0.73% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 361 jobs and a 147.26% growth. JD with 135 IT jobs and Woolworths Group with 88 jobs, recorded a 12.34% drop and a 76% rise, respectively, while Wesfarmers recorded a 27.54% decline with 50 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 40.72% share in December 2021, a 1.58% increase over November 2021. China featured next with a 36.39% share, up 47.78% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 12.05% share, a drop of 12.92% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.17%, up by 12.17% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.49% share, registered a decline of 5.59% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.24% share, down 1.97% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.1%, recording a month-on-month growth of 216.67%.
