February 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.02% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 11.45% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.73% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 77.03% in February 2022, an 11.01% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 8.9% in February 2022, marking a 10.24% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.85% in February 2022, a 15.09% rise from January 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 3.92% in February 2022, a 58.82% rise over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 5.93% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during February 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 1,312 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a decline of 5% over the previous month, followed by JD with 138 jobs and a 27.78% growth. Alibaba Group Holding with 114 IT jobs and Woolworths Group with 59 jobs, recorded a 35.59% drop and a 16.9% drop, respectively, while Wesfarmers recorded a 26.47% increase with 43 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 51.21% share in February 2022, a 15.35% decrease over January 2022. China featured next with a 17.31% share, down 5.04% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 11.75% share, a growth of 7.52% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.49%, down by 3.25% from January 2022. Entry Level positions with a 23.4% share, registered a decline of 20.53% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 16.1% share, down 8.01% over January 2022.
