
Asia-Pacific witnessed a 3.7% rise in IT hiring activity in the retail industry in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
January 2022 has seen an increase of 1.79% in the overall hiring activity when compared with December 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 11.12% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in January 2022, registering an increase of 0.46% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in January 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 79.84% in January 2022, a 17.34% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 9.32% in January 2022, marking a 23.78% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 6.89% in January 2022, a 13.64% rise from December 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 2.16% in January 2022, a 2.08% decline over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 24.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s retail industry during January 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 1,304 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered an increase of 50.93% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 166 jobs and a 58.4% drop. adidas with 140 IT jobs and Coupang with 94 jobs, recorded a 600% rise and a 291.67% rise, respectively, while JD recorded a 31.11% decline with 93 job postings during January 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s retail industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 55.1% share in January 2022, a 60% increase over December 2022. China featured next with a 16.07% share, down 47.99% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 10.65% share, a growth of 5.94% compared with December 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.53%, up by 9.43% from December 2022. Entry Level positions with a 25.62% share, registered a growth of 72.76% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 16.62% share, up 0.84% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.23%, recording a month-on-month decline of 73.68%.
