Australia’s retail industry registered an 11.2% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.26% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.24% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 1.15% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry in October 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 41.35% in October 2022, registering a 28.57% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 31.58% share, an increase of 180% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.29%, registering a 52.5% decline from September 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.52%, down 9.09% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
Amazon posted 47 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 135% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 39 jobs and a 41.79% drop. Wesfarmers with 29 IT jobs and Coles Group with 6 jobs, recorded an 81.25% growth and a 60% decrease, respectively, while Harvey Norman Holdings recorded a decline of 42.86% with 4 job postings during October 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.44%, down by 12.71% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.04% share, registered a decline of 9.09% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.52% share, down 23.08% over September 2022.
