
Australia’s retail industry registered a 6.5% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 10.06% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.03% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 0.94% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.66% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry in May 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.66% in May 2022, registering a 22.78% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 30.47% share, an increase of 62.5% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.16%, registering a 23.53% decline from April 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.25%, up 60% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 0.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
Woolworths Group posted 50 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 56.25% over the previous month, followed by Coles Group with 28 jobs and a 24.32% drop. Amazon with 21 IT jobs and Wesfarmers with 13 jobs, recorded a 38.24% decline and an 8.33% growth, respectively, while Country Road Group recorded an increase of 100% with 4 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.31%, down by 13.46% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 17.19% share, registered an increase of 83.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 12.5% share, down 5.88% over April 2022.
