Australia’s retail industry registered a 14.4% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.82% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.5% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.56% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.18% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 61.73% in February 2022, registering a 25% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.64% share, a decrease of 9.52% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.93%, registering a 7.41% rise from January 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.58%, down 27.27% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 12.7% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Amazon posted 97 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 7.78% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 52 jobs and an 18.18% growth. Wesfarmers with 35 IT jobs and Coles Group with 22 jobs, recorded a 25% growth and a 15.38% decrease, respectively, while Accent Group recorded an increase of 600% with 7 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.49%, up by 1.86% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.75% share, registered an increase of 9.09% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.76% share, up 47.62% over January 2022.
