Australia’s retail industry IT recruitment activity rises 3.3% in March 2022

Australia’s retail industry registered a 3.3% rise in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.81% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.99% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 64.87% in March 2022, registering an 11.04% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 19% share, an increase of 39.47% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.96%, registering a 16.67% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 4.3%, down 20% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 11.87% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Woolworths Group posted 94 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a rise of 74.07% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 81 jobs and a 21.36% drop. Wesfarmers with 33 IT jobs and Coles Group with 29 jobs, recorded a 5.71% decline and a 7.41% growth, respectively, while RedBubble recorded a flat growth with 8 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.61%, up by 12.57% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.35% share, registered an increase of 8% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.04% share, down 9.68% over February 2022.
