Australia’s retail industry IT recruitment activity rises 3.4% in July 2022

Australia’s retail industry registered a 3.4% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 8.8% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.92% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.29% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.48% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 45.18% in July 2022, registering an 11.88% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 23.86% share, a decrease of 16.07% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.24%, registering a 5.88% decline from June 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.12%, up 6.67% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 11.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s retail industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Amazon posted 56 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 7.69% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 50 jobs and a 27.54% drop. Coles Group with 33 IT jobs and Wesfarmers with 18 jobs, recorded an 8.33% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while RedBubble recorded a decline of 36.36% with 7 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.48%, down by 19.88% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.77% share, registered an increase of 9.38% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.75% share, up 32% over June 2022.
