The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.26% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.65% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 2.15% over the last three-month average share.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 9.25% share, a decrease of 11.11% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 6.07%, registering a 23.53% rise from August 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.47%, up 50% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 10.54% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s retail industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Amazon posted 243 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 21.61% over the previous month, followed by Loblaw Companies with 22 jobs and a 29.41% growth. Affirm Holdings with 20 IT jobs and Pet Valu Holdings with 15 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Lululemon Athletica recorded a flat growth with 14 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.27%, down by 13.47% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 35.55% share, registered a decline of 18.54% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 16.18% share, down 3.45% over August 2022.
