The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.07% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.49% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 9.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s retail industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Amazon posted 157 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 17.37% over the previous month, followed by Canadian Tire with 26 jobs and a 7.14% drop. Loblaw Companies with 20 IT jobs and Lululemon Athletica with 8 jobs, recorded a 122.22% growth and a 100% growth, respectively, while KAR Auction Services recorded a decline of 28.57% with 5 job postings during September 2021.
Entry Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Entry Level jobs held a share of 47.08%, up by 24.18% from August 2021. Junior Level positions with a 41.25% share, registered a decline of 26.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.67% share, down 24.32% over August 2021.
