Canada’s retail industry registered a 43.6% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.74% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.33% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 3.71% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s retail industry in November 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 35.24% in November 2022, registering a 76.58% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 24.76% share, an increase of 23.81% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 22.86%, registering a 380% rise from October 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 10.48%, up 57.14% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 137.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s retail industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Canadian Tire posted 54 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Lululemon Athletica with 15 jobs and a 37.5% drop. Loblaw Companies with 6 IT jobs and Shoppers Drug Mart with 4 jobs, recorded a 45.45% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Alimentation Couche-Tard recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during November 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.1%, down by 34.41% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.95% share, registered a decline of 42.11% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 20.95% share, down 69.44% over October 2022.
