China’s retail industry registered a 0.9% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.26% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.1% share in November 2021, recording a decrease of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in November 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 83.65% in November 2021, registering a 2.75% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.53% share, an increase of 89.47% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.21%, registering a 4.76% rise from October 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 2.13%, up 800% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 6.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
JD posted 154 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 10.47% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 142 jobs and a 4.41% growth. Amazon with 77 IT jobs and NIKE with 18 jobs, recorded a 35.09% growth and a 1700% growth, respectively, while Coupang recorded a decline of 6.67% with 14 job postings during November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.22%, down by 0.64% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.59% share, registered an increase of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9% share, up 31.03% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.18%, recording a month-on-month decline of 54.55%.
