China’s retail industry registered an 11.2% drop in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.86% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.41% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.72% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 80.17% in February 2022, registering a 3.69% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.82% share, an increase of 21.74% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 6.7%, registering a 9.09% rise from January 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.91%, up 75% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 6.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

JD posted 138 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 27.78% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 104 jobs and a 39.53% drop. Amazon with 87 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 11 jobs, recorded an 8.75% growth and a 22.22% growth, respectively, while NIKE recorded an increase of 166.67% with 8 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.3%, down by 1.12% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 13.97% share, registered a decline of 21.88% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.73% share, up 2.44% over January 2022.
