China’s retail industry registered a 14.3% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.56% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.95% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.73% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 88.98% in October 2021, registering a 35.23% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 5.38% share, a decrease of 35.48% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 4.57%, registering a 60.47% decline from September 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 0.54%, up 100% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 37.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
JD posted 169 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 42.91% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 108 jobs and a 40% drop. Amazon with 53 IT jobs and Coupang with 15 jobs, recorded a 27.4% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while adidas recorded an increase of 85.71% with 13 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.81%, down by 39.48% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 14.78% share, registered a decline of 29.49% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.99% share, down 38.1% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.42%, recording a month-on-month increase of 80%.
