China’s retail industry registered a 15.3% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.27% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.43% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.47% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 75.66% in March 2022, registering a 42.61% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 13.11% share, an increase of 29.63% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 6.37%, registering a 46.88% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 2.25%, down 68.42% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 2.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

JD posted 114 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 18.57% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 96 jobs and a 6.67% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 18 IT jobs and adidas with 15 jobs, recorded a 63.64% growth and an 114.29% growth, respectively, while eBay recorded a flat growth with 11 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.79%, down by 41.85% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.61% share, registered a decline of 40.91% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.61% share, down 13.33% over February 2022.
