China’s retail industry registered a 7.6% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.15% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.94% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 86.38% in September 2021, registering a 27.6% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.41% share, an increase of 2.38% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.17%, registering a 20% rise from August 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 0.69%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 21.65% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
JD posted 296 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 59.14% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 173 jobs and a 62.06% drop. Amazon with 69 IT jobs and Coupang with 15 jobs, recorded a 43.75% flat growth and a 40% decrease, respectively, while NIKE recorded an increase of 700% with 8 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 79.31%, down by 17.41% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 12.76% share, registered a decline of 39.34% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.24% share, down 36.36% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.69%, recording a month-on-month decline of 82.61%.
