China’s retail industry registered a 2.7% rise in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.83% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.19% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in China’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.32% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry in December 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 89.54% in December 2021, registering a 60.51% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 6.18% share, an increase of 8.33% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 3.49%, registering an 8.33% decline from November 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 0.95%, down 50% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 57.51% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s retail industry during December 2021 over November 2021.
Alibaba Group Holding posted 354 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a rise of 149.3% over the previous month, followed by JD with 135 jobs and a 12.34% drop. Amazon with 108 IT jobs and adidas with 13 jobs, recorded a 27.06% growth and a 225% growth, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded an increase of 12.5% with 9 job postings during December 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.1%, up by 39.74% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.65% share, registered an increase of 87.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.56% share, up 22.73% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.69%, recording a month-on-month increase of 240%.
