August 2022 has seen an increase of 1.07% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 61.9% in August 2022, a 22.96% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.42% in August 2022, marking a 35.44% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.67% in August 2022, an 8.86% rise from July 2022.

Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 44.78% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 154 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 65.24% over the previous month, followed by Inter IKEA Holding with 62 jobs and a 6.9% growth. VorwerkKG with 58 IT jobs and Veepee with 54 jobs, recorded a 38.3% drop and a 22.73% rise, respectively, while REWE Group recorded a 35.48% increase with 42 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 28.33% share in August 2022, a 28.5% decrease over July 2022. Germany featured next with a 27.42% share, down 21.84% over the previous month. Poland recorded an 8.67% share, a growth of 24.64% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.04%, down by 20.59% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.33% share, registered a decline of 24.3% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 15.63% share, down 28.57% over July 2022.
