April 2022 has seen an increase of 0.5% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.84% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering a decrease of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 71.72% in April 2022, a 33.54% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 10.94% in April 2022, marking a 32.99% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.09% in April 2022, a 23.94% drop from March 2022.

Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 29.28% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during April 2022 over previous month.

Amazon posted 576 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a decline of 34.4% over the previous month, followed by Zalando with 53 jobs and a 54.7% drop. adidas with 52 IT jobs and Leroy Merlin with 42 jobs, recorded a 44.44% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Hornbach Holding AGKGaA recorded a 15.56% decline with 38 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 31.06% share in April 2022, a 36.92% decrease over March 2022. Germany featured next with a 19.87% share, down 39.33% over the previous month. France recorded a 9.68% share, a growth of 21.05% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.53%, down by 37.95% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.54% share, registered a decline of 27.16% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.85% share, down 6.19% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.08%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
