Europe witnessed a 7.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the retail industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.29% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.85% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.71% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 63.65% in September 2022, an 8.62% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.54% in September 2022, marking a 1.61% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.21% in September 2022, a 10.89% rise from August 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 5.59% in September 2022, a 28.3% rise over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.79% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during September 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 345 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 12.88% over the previous month, followed by VorwerkKG with 70 jobs and a 4.48% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 69 IT jobs and Zalando with 49 jobs, recorded an 11.29% rise and a 96% rise, respectively, while Veepee recorded a 21.43% decline with 44 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 27.22% share in September 2022, an 11.73% decrease over August 2022. Germany featured next with a 23.85% share, down 14.96% over the previous month. Poland recorded a 9.13% share, a growth of 8.82% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.52%, down by 4.09% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 17.85% share, registered a decline of 0.46% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.64% share, down 16.82% over August 2022.
