February 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.72% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.77% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 1.21% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 72.74% in February 2022, a 4.34% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 11.4% in February 2022, marking a 5.61% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.75% in February 2022, a 7.33% drop from January 2022.

Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 15.52% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during February 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 843 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 24.7% over the previous month, followed by Zalando with 130 jobs and a 17.12% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 110 IT jobs and Veepee with 81 jobs, recorded a 15.38% drop and a 35.2% drop, respectively, while Wolt Enterprises recorded a 280% increase with 57 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 24.39% share in February 2022, a 17.82% increase over January 2022. Germany featured next with a 21.15% share, up 8.17% over the previous month. Spain recorded a 7.93% share, a growth of 5.88% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.3%, up by 2.38% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.33% share, registered a growth of 10.73% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.93% share, down 4.17% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.44%, recording a month-on-month growth of 60%.
