Germany’s retail industry registered a 15.9% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.9% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.86% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Germany’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Germany’s retail industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 63.45% in October 2022, registering a 43.95% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 20.3% share, an increase of 53.85% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 11.17%, registering a 15.79% rise from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 5.08%, down 66.67% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Germany’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 29.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Germany’s retail industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Amazon posted 56 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 22.22% over the previous month, followed by Hornbach Holding AGKGaA with 36 jobs and a 2.7% drop. VorwerkKG with 35 IT jobs and Zalando with 23 jobs, recorded a 55.13% decline and a 37.84% decrease, respectively, while Schwarz Unternehmenskommunikation GmbHKG recorded an increase of 20% with 18 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.42%, down by 39.8% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.29% share, registered an increase of 5.56% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 19.29% share, down 44.93% over September 2022.
