Germany’s retail industry registered an 8.2% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 10.15% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.09% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Germany’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Germany’s retail industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 73.1% in September 2022, registering a 10.17% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 9.66% share, a decrease of 42.86% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.97%, registering a 3.7% decline from August 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.55%, down 32.14% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Germany’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Germany’s retail industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Amazon posted 72 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 1.37% over the previous month, followed by VorwerkKG with 70 jobs and a 4.48% growth. Zalando with 37 IT jobs and Hornbach Holding AGKGaA with 37 jobs, recorded a 48% growth and a 2.78% growth, respectively, while Schwarz Unternehmenskommunikation GmbHKG recorded a decline of 50% with 15 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.21%, down by 13.9% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 22.07% share, registered an increase of 36.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.72% share, down 52.11% over August 2022.
