Germany’s retail industry registered a 0.5% rise in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.44% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.47% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 1.73% over the last three-month average share.

Top five retail companies in Germany’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 20.15% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Germany’s retail industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
Amazon posted 58 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Zalando with 53 jobs and a 60.61% growth. Schwarz Unternehmenskommunikation GmbHKG with 24 IT jobs and Hornbach Holding AGKGaA with 18 jobs, recorded a 4% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Metro recorded a flat growth with 8 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.03%, up by 20.39% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.68% share, registered an increase of 7.41% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.59% share, down 34.15% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.7%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
