India’s consumer industry registered a 0.7% rise in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.2% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.45% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.39% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s consumer industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 42.44% in May 2022, registering a 51.93% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 21.46% share, an increase of 62.96% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 17.56%, registering a 2.86% rise from April 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 14.15%, up 31.82% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s consumer industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Panasonic posted 44 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 2.33% over the previous month, followed by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 36 jobs and a 176.92% growth. Nestle with 22 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 15 jobs, recorded a 51.11% decline and a 400% growth, respectively, while Charoen Pokphand Foods Public recorded an increase of 40% with 14 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.83%, down by 30.1% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.85% share, registered a decline of 28.38% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.83% share, up 100% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.49%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
