India’s retail industry registered a 20.9% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 18.26% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 24.61% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.93% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.11% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 64% in August 2022, registering a 70.61% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 22.67% share, a decrease of 54.05% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.78%, registering a 77.59% decline from July 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 4%, up 12.5% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 74.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
adidas posted 58 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 48.72% over the previous month, followed by Target with 37 jobs and a 33.93% drop. Amazon with 25 IT jobs and VorwerkKG with 17 jobs, recorded a 94.44% decline and a 45.16% decrease, respectively, while NIKE recorded a decline of 8.33% with 11 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.89%, down by 56.68% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.22% share, registered a decline of 58.16% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.89% share, down 85.1% over July 2022.
