India’s retail industry registered a 30.6% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.15% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.64% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 6.25% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry in September 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.39% in September 2022, registering a 31.72% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.47% share, a decrease of 15.56% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 12.18%, registering a 26.39% decline from August 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.28%, up 33.33% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 15.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
Amazon posted 284 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 23.04% over the previous month, followed by Target with 39 jobs and a 5.41% growth. NIKE with 22 IT jobs and VorwerkKG with 16 jobs, recorded an 83.33% growth and a 15.79% decrease, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded an increase of 160% with 13 job postings during September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 41.15%, down by 41.88% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 37.7% share, registered a decline of 11.35% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 21.15% share, down 4.17% over August 2022.
