India’s retail industry registered a 3.8% rise in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.16% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 33.32% share in March 2022, recording an increase of 0.88% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.47% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry in March 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 84.56% in March 2022, registering an 8.42% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 6.62% share, a decrease of 12.5% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 6.3%, registering a 36.84% decline from February 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 1.26%, up 33.33% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 10.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s retail industry during March 2022 over February 2022.
Amazon posted 803 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 11.17% over the previous month, followed by NIKE with 26 jobs and a 10.34% drop. Target with 21 IT jobs and Walmart with 21 jobs, recorded a 27.59% decline and a 36.36% decrease, respectively, while IndiaMART InterMESH recorded a flat growth with 20 job postings during March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.68%, down by 12.05% from February 2022. Entry Level positions with a 32.04% share, registered a decline of 13.84% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 14.08% share, down 15.19% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.21%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
