Japan’s retail industry registered a 22.5% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 9.1% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.3% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Japan’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.4% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Japan’s retail industry in September 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.09% in September 2022, registering a 666.67% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 32.34% share, an increase of 63.64% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5.39%, registering a flat growth from August 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 4.79%, up 300% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in Japan’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 450% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Japan’s retail industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
Rakuten Group posted 140 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 2233.33% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 22 jobs and a 4.35% drop. Yamada Holdings with 1 IT job and Qurate Retail with 1 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Valor Holdings recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.25%, up by 200% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.57% share, registered an increase of 766.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.19% share, up 1100% over August 2022.
