May 2022 has seen a decrease of 4.8% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.1% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.
Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 33.33% in May 2022, a 50% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 27.78% in May 2022, marking an 88.1% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 22.22% in May 2022, a 33.33% drop from April 2022.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 11.11% in May 2022, a 33.33% decline over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 140% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s consumer industry during May 2022 over previous month.
The Bidvest Group posted 4 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by Compagnie Financiere Richemont with 2 jobs and a 100% growth. The Body Shop International with 2 IT jobs and Almarai with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Mondelez International recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during May 2022.

South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 44.44% share in May 2022, a 33.33% decrease over April 2022. Kenya featured next with an 11.11% share, down 66.67% over the previous month. Egypt recorded an 11.11% share, a drop of 92.31% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 88.89%, down by 48.39% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with an 11.11% share, registered a decline of 90.91% compared with the previous month.
