Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 37.04% in October 2022, a 78.26% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.22% in October 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 18.52% in October 2022, a 16.67% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 58.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 17 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 73.85% over the previous month, followed by Shoprite Holdings with 10 jobs and a 37.5% drop. Dis-Chem Pharmacies with 5 IT jobs and Foschini Group with 4 jobs, recorded a 16.67% drop and a 42.86% drop, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a 100% increase with 4 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 50% share in October 2022, a 60.29% decrease over September 2022. Israel featured next with a 29.63% share, down 70.37% over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 7.41% share, a growth of 300% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.26%, down by 65.96% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 22.22% share, registered a decline of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 18.52% share, down 54.55% over September 2022.
