Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 54.55% in August 2022, a 29.41% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 21.59% in August 2022, marking a 17.39% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 10.23% in August 2022, an 800% rise from July 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 26.92% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 36 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 38.98% over the previous month, followed by Foschini Group with 16 jobs and a 23.08% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 11 IT jobs and Shoprite Holdings with 8 jobs, recorded a 37.5% rise and a 46.67% drop, respectively, while Dis-Chem Pharmacies recorded a 44.44% decline with 5 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 69.32% share in August 2022, a 3.17% decrease over July 2022. Niger featured next with a 12.5% share, up 37.5% over the previous month. Israel recorded a 6.82% share, a drop of 80.65% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50%, down by 34.33% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 31.82% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 18.18% share, down 15.79% over July 2022.
