December 2021 has seen a decrease of 12.18% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 17% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 2.52% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 69.03% in December 2021, a 10.34% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 12.39% in December 2021, marking a 12.5% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.62% in December 2021, a 71.43% rise from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 7.29% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 69 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 13.11% over the previous month, followed by Shoprite Holdings with 14 jobs and a 27.27% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 11 IT jobs and Mr. Price Group with 5 jobs, recorded a 31.25% drop and a 37.5% drop, respectively, while Alibaba Group Holding recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
Israel commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 39.82% share in December 2021, a 25% increase over November 2021. South Africa featured next with a 25.66% share, down 47.27% over the previous month. United Arab Emirates recorded a 13.27% share, a growth of 66.67% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.41%, down by 16.46% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 27.43% share, registered a growth of 181.82% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.16% share, down 51.52% over November 2021.
