May 2022 has seen an increase of 30.89% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 0.96% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 41.84% in May 2022, a 2.36% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20.81% in May 2022, marking a 19.57% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 16.2% in May 2022, a 15.29% drop from April 2022.

Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.67% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Carrier Global posted 55 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 41.03% over the previous month, followed by Nestle with 51 jobs and a 43.33% drop. PepsiCo with 47 IT jobs and The J. R. Simplot with 32 jobs, recorded a 51.61% rise and a 55.56% drop, respectively, while Coca-Cola Consolidated recorded a 25% increase with 25 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with an 88.41% share in May 2022, a 13.53% decrease over April 2022. Mexico featured next with a 5.85% share, down 18.75% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 5.74% share, a growth of 6.25% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.32%, down by 18.05% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.02% share, registered a growth of 6.59% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.52% share, down 16.36% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.14%, recording a month-on-month growth of 46.15%.
