Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 80.65% in September 2021, a 13.08% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 7.41% in September 2021, marking a 15.27% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 5.23% in September 2021, a 3.37% rise from August 2021.

Top five retail companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 19.16% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s retail industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 4,012 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 3.51% over the previous month, followed by Chewy with 510 jobs and a 295.35% growth. Walmart with 389 IT jobs and Dollar Tree with 319 jobs, recorded a 13.41% rise and a 10533.33% rise, respectively, while CVS Health recorded a 3.48% decline with 194 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s retail industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 95.79% share in September 2021, a 12.7% increase over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 3.41% share, down 9.09% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.77% share, a growth of 63.64% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.19%, up by 6.84% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 29.43% share, registered a growth of 19.87% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.68% share, up 13.06% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.7%, recording a month-on-month growth of 75%.
