Portugal’s retail industry IT recruitment activity rises 27.2% in May 2022

Portugal’s retail industry registered a 27.2% rise in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 15.75% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.85% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Portugal’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Portugal’s retail industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.32% in May 2022, registering a 288.89% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25.42% share, an increase of 400% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 11.86%, registering a 600% rise from April 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.39%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in Portugal’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Portugal’s retail industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Farfetch posted 56 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 600% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 1 job and a flat growth. Cazoo Group with 1 IT job and Inter IKEA Holding with 1 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and a flat growth.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 81.36%, up by 300% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.95% share, registered an increase of 900% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 1.69% share, flat growth over April 2022.
