The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.99% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.26% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 1.11% over the last three-month average share.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 33.87% share, an increase of 90.91% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 9.68%, registering a 100% rise from June 2022.

Top five retail companies in South Africa’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 20.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of South Africa’s retail industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Amazon posted 19 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 9.52% over the previous month, followed by Shoprite Holdings with 15 jobs and a 150% growth. Foschini Group with 13 IT jobs and Dis-Chem Pharmacies with 9 jobs, recorded a 13.33% decline and a 200% growth, respectively, while Pick n Pay Stores recorded a decline of 33.33% with 2 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 50%, down by 6.06% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 33.87% share, registered an increase of 200% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 16.13% share, down 9.09% over June 2022.
