South & Central America’s consumer industry IT hiring activity rises 23.6% in May 2022

South & Central America witnessed a 23.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

May 2022 has seen an increase of 2.36% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 1.62% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in May 2022

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 31.15% in May 2022, a 216.67% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 29.51% in May 2022, marking a 125% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 22.95% in May 2022, a 7.69% rise from April 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 11.48% in May 2022, a 12.5% decline over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 100% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s consumer industry during May 2022 over previous month.

GraceKennedy posted 11 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 266.67% over the previous month, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev with 8 jobs and a 300% growth. L’Oreal with 6 IT jobs and The Procter & Gamble with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Kimberly-Clark recorded a 28.57% decline with 5 job postings during May 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s consumer industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 27.87% share in May 2022, a 5.56% decrease over April 2022. Jamaica featured next with an 18.03% share, up 266.67% over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 14.75% share, a growth of 28.57% compared with April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.05%, up by 30.56% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.39% share, registered a growth of 150% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6.56% share, up 100% over April 2022.
