March 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.55% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 11.34% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering an increase of 0.58% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 76.64% in March 2022, a 28.07% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 11.21% in March 2022, marking a 50% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.28% in March 2022, a 37.5% rise from February 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 20.9% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during March 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 56 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a decline of 21.13% over the previous month, followed by Magazine Luiza with 38 jobs and a flat growth. SMU with 4 IT jobs, recorded a flat growth, while Lojas Americanas recorded a 76.47% decline with 4 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 76.64% share in March 2022, a 22.64% decrease over February 2022. Costa Rica featured next with an 8.41% share, up 12.5% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 4.67% share, a drop of 44.44% compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.64%, down by 12.77% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12.15% share, registered a decline of 50% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.28% share, down 35.29% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.93%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
