Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 82.05% in August 2022, a 28% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 7.69% in August 2022, marking a 66.67% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 5.13% in August 2022, a 20% drop from July 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 2.7% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 32 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 55.56% over the previous month, followed by CCC with 31 jobs and a flat growth. Lojas Americanas with 3 IT jobs and Northern Tool + Equipment with 3 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 200% rise, respectively, while Allbirds recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 47.44% share in August 2022, a 17.78% decrease over July 2022. Colombia featured next with a 41.03% share, up 52.38% over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 7.69% share, a growth of 20% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.64%, up by 15.69% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 12.82% share, registered a growth of 66.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.54% share, down 64% over July 2022.
