IT jobs accounted for a 7.5% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 63.29% in July 2022, a 6.38% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.52% in July 2022, marking a 5.56% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 10.13% in July 2022, a 166.67% rise from June 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 6.76% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 71 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 2.74% over the previous month, followed by adidas with 4 jobs and a 300% growth. Raia Drogasil with 2 IT jobs and Puma with 1 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Northern Tool + Equipment recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 53.16% share in July 2022, a 7.69% increase over June 2022. Colombia featured next with a 26.58% share, up 250% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded an 8.86% share, a drop of 61.11% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.03%, down by 7.55% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.65% share, registered a growth of 19.05% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.33% share, up 25% over June 2022.
