Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 67.5% in May 2022, a 74.53% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.5% in May 2022, marking a 125% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10% in May 2022, a 60% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 66.1% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 31 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 66.67% over the previous month, followed by Carrefour with 3 jobs and a 200% growth. adidas with 3 IT jobs and Magazine Luiza with 2 jobs, recorded a 40% drop and an 88.89% drop, respectively, while Evino recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 57.5% share in May 2022, a 75.79% decrease over April 2022. Colombia featured next with a 20% share, up 14.29% over the previous month. Haiti recorded a 7.5% share, a growth of 200% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55%, down by 78.85% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 32.5% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.5% share, flat growth over April 2022.
