The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.66% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.99% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 1.1% over the last three-month average share.

Top five retail companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 66.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s retail industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Amazon posted 92 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 21.05% over the previous month, followed by J Sainsbury with 38 jobs and a 91.65% drop. John Lewis Partnership with 24 IT jobs and ASOS with 19 jobs, recorded an 118.18% flat growth and a 280% flat growth, respectively, while Next recorded an increase of 100% with 14 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.6%, down by 47.93% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 14.16% share, registered a decline of 62.99% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.24% share, down 69.64% over August 2021.
