The UK’s retail industry registered an 11.0% rise in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 9.91% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.74% share in March 2022, recording an increase of 0.42% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.34% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s retail industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.74% in March 2022, registering a 16.31% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 12.18% share, an increase of 46.67% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 7.75%, registering a 2.33% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.09%, up 50% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 42.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s retail industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Amazon posted 183 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 18.67% over the previous month, followed by Ocado Group with 102 jobs and a flat growth. Internet Fusion with 44 IT jobs, recorded a 109.52% flat growth, while Asda Stores recorded an increase of 150% with 20 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.77%, up by 30.98% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 16.61% share, registered an increase of 11.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.25% share, down 23.75% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.37%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
