The US’s retail industry registered a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.53% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.2% share in June 2022, recording an increase of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 78.29% in June 2022, registering a 0.55% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.97% share, an increase of 15.78% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 5%, registering a 13.93% rise from May 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 4.83%, down 24.01% over the previous month.

 

Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 12.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Amazon posted 3,868 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 23.93% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 300 jobs and a 13.04% drop. CVS Health with 140 IT jobs and Chewy with 137 jobs, recorded a 10.26% decline and a 19.88% decrease, respectively, while The Home Depot recorded a decline of 50.75% with 131 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.68%, down by 1.18% from May 2022. Entry Level positions with a 31.63% share, registered an increase of 2.27% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 18.62% share, down 7.25% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.07%, recording a month-on-month decline of 55.56%.
