
The US’s retail industry registered a 3.1% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.85% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.51% share in December 2021, recording an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in December 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 79.09% in December 2021, registering a 20.33% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 6.79% share, a decrease of 12.4% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 6.51%, registering a 2.99% decline from November 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.77%, down 18.61% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 19.32% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during December 2021 over November 2021.
Amazon posted 3,035 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a drop of 22.46% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 266 jobs and a 22.9% drop. CVS Health with 208 IT jobs and Chewy with 158 jobs, recorded a 2.35% decline and a 17.28% decrease, respectively, while eBay recorded an increase of 346.15% with 116 job postings during December 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.07%, down by 14.06% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 28.1% share, registered a decline of 28.45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.11% share, down 14.31% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.72%, recording a month-on-month decline of 36.84%.
